Shabnam Mithani

Sr. Shabnam Mithani is the Academy’s Islamic Instructor for KG, Grade 1, 2 and 3. She has a strong foundation in Islamic Studies and is part of an extensive network of Islamic Educationalists through which she will develop an exciting, robust and spiritually exhilarating Islamic curriculum for the school.  Her priority is to ensure that Islamic learning and teaching is integrated with the secular agenda so it becomes a prevailing culture and a way of student, teacher and parent life. By engraining Islamic principles, values, morals and ethics within the development and nurturing of the students, she is confident that Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy will be able to produce individuals who excel academically and spiritually. This will enable them to become good Muslim role models for others and be able to make significant contributions to society. Sr. Shabnam is well-loved by students and staff for the positive energy and commitment she brings to the school as well as her ability to make the learning of Islam fun and enjoyable. 


Furthermore, Sr. Shabnam is now a fully qualified Orton Gillingham teacher and has recently successfully completed the Orton Gillingham Math teacher qualification whereby she is able to teach children who have learning challenges.  Through this training, she is able to integrate a multi-sensory approach to her teaching methodologies thus providing meaningful and inspiring learning of Islam to a broad range of children with different and diverse learning capacities. 

Most recently, Sr. Shabnam has joined the Jr. Kindergarten teaching team as an an assistant teacher. Sr. Shabnam's borad experience combined with with her training in Montessori will be sure to result in an enjoyable and exciting learning experience for the young learners in the Jr. KG class.
